Edo: NSCDC, others foil attempted jailbreak in Ubija prison

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Edo State Command says it foiled a jailbreak attempt by inmates at the Nigerian Correctional Service facility, Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area of the State on Wednesday.
In a statement released in Benin, the spokesperson of the command, Richard Ogbebor, disclosed that the attempted jailbreak happened from 3pm to 5pm on Wednesday.
He said the command received a distress call and subsequently mobilized its personnel to the facility.
On getting to the facility, it was discovered that the inmates had broken out from their cells and were already engaging the correctional officers in a fight. ....

Officials from the Cross River State Ministry of Environment have evacuated the decomposing corpses discovered at a valley in mile five, Calabar Municipal government area of Cross River State
Disclosing this to DAILY POST on Thursday, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Eremi Solomon John said the Ministry evacuated the corpses of seven males and a female
He said investigations on their identities, cause of death or their killers were continuing, confirming that nobody has been declared missing in the surrounding environment.
“The investigations are still ongoing particularly on how these corpses got there. In the Odukpani local government area, nobody has been reported missing. We still not unravelled the identities of the corpses and how they got there, nobody has been declared missing ....

Traditional rulers, LG councils move to check police killing in Cross River

The Traditional Rulers and Local Government Council Chairmen in Cross River State have put up measures to avert the killing of Police officers in their respective domains.
DAILY POST gathered that the Chairman of the Ikom local government council erected a Security Check Post at the entrance and the exit of the local government area.
In Yakurr local government council, the traditional created a security team comprising all security agencies and vigilante groups in the council to monitor the activities of hoodlums, with a view to reducing attacks on the policemen.
Speaking with DAILY POST on Thursday via phone, the Obol Lopon of Mkpani, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Obol Sunday Obono Okoi regretted the action of the hoodlums who attack and murder Policemen as well as other security personnel. ....

The Paramount Ruler of Mkpani, Obol Lopon of Mkpani, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Obol Sunday Obono Okoi has disclosed how his community stopped Fulani herdsmen from entering their farmlands.
He said his community has put various machinery in place to make it impossible for herders to enter their farmlands.
