The Onimeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Olanite, has raised the alarm that arms and ammunitions are being imported into Ogun State.
The monarch, who spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abeokuta on Tuesday, which was attended by some northern governors, said the whole of Yewaland had been infiltrated with arms and ammunition.
He said the development had exposed people living in the area to serious attacks by armed herdsmen.
He lamented that farmers in the area had suffered huge losses, which might not be recoverable on time except they got help from the government. ....

Peeping through the curtains inside a small hut at a farm settlement located at Oha village in the Imeko- Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State, 30-year-old Rashidat Olowoniyi watched in disbelief as herdsmen attacked and macheted her husband to death over a disagreement two months.
Rashidat who was inside the hut with her only child of a 10-year-old marriage could not shout or raise the alarm in order not to attract the attention of the killer herdsmen to herself and son.
On February 8, 2021, Dele Olowoniyi, was reportedly murdered in his sleep. Olowoniyi’s wife was said to have found him dead with machete cuts in his neck and other parts of his body. ....

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, on Monday, expressed his commitment to fostering the unity and integration of Yoruba people across the globe.
The governor, who stated this while receiving a delegation of traditional rulers from Benin Republic led by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, added that he was keen on working for the enrichment of the Yoruba culture and economic expansion of the ethnic group.
He maintained that the Yoruba race must remain united if they hope to achieve the much-desired growth in Yorubaland.
Speaking at governor’s office, Ibadan, he declared readiness to work for the unity of the Yoruba people. ....
