Pro-Trump Attorney Lin Wood Not of Sufficient Character to Practice Law, Decides Judge
On 1/12/21 at 1:40 PM EST
A Delaware Superior Court judge slammed pro-Trump attorney Lin Wood in a Monday decision, revoking Wood s right to represent ex-Trump aide Carter Page in a defamation suit stemming from the Mueller investigation.
The conduct of Mr. Wood, albeit not in my jurisdiction, exhibited a toxic stew of mendacity, prevarication and surprising incompetence, Judge Craig Karsnitz wrote.
Karsnitz said that he is required to ensure that those practicing before me are of sufficient character, and conduct themselves with sufficient civility and truthfulness, particularly when out-of-state counsel is selected. Wood is based in Georgia. ....

Finally!
After weeks of plastering the federal docket with garbage lawsuits, a trial judge in Delaware became so alarmed at attorney Lin Wood’s antics that he issued a show cause order
sua sponte demanding to know why he should not revoke Wood’s
pro hac vice admission to appear before the court.
As first reported by Law & Crime’s Adam Klasfield, Wood’s representation of former Trump campaign aide Carter Page in a suit claiming defamation by Yahoo! News and Huffpost has hit a snag. Page represented himself in a federal suit against the news outlet’s parent company Oath, Inc., but U.S. District Judge Lorna G. Schofield failed to find the alleged violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act and tossed that suit in 2018. So Page retained Wood for a plain vanilla defamation suit in the Superior Court for the State of Delaware, and the attorney’s PHV application was approved in August. ....

Law360 (December 21, 2020, 11:42 PM EST) Attorney L. Lin Wood s representation of former Trump adviser Carter Page in Delaware state court could be revoked based on his conduct in suits challenging the results of the general election as a plaintiff in Georgia and as counsel in Wisconsin, a state court judge said Friday.
Delaware Superior Court Judge Craig A. Karsnitz ordered Wood to show why his representation of Page in the case should not be revoked, given that Wood s Georgia suit was found to have no basis in fact or law and the Wisconsin suit had multiple deficiencies. ....

On December 10, 2020, United States District Judge Ronnie Abrams (S.D.N.Y.) granted Oath Inc. (“Oath”) and Quora, Inc. (“Quora”)’s motions for attorneys’ fees under 35 U.S.C. § 285. Section 285 permits courts to award reasonable attorneys’ fees to a prevailing party in exceptional cases. The standard was met here, according to Judge Abrams, most particularly because Plaintiff NetSoc, LLC (“NetSoc”) ignored deficiencies in its pleading for roughly three months after being informed of errors therein.
