A plane crash Saturday afternoon in Lyon Township, Michigan killed the former president of Metro Detroit’s home builders group, his wife and son and sparked a fire in the home they struck, according to the home builders association.
Plane owner David S. Compo an experienced, licensed pilot his wife Michele and their college-age son Dawson were killed in the crash when their private plane smashed into a home half a mile north of the New Hudson airport, the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan said late Saturday in a release. ....

The victims in the small plane crash that killed three Saturday in Lyon Township have been identified. They are David Compo, his wife, Michelle, and son, Dawson. Compo was co-owner of Compo Builders in Novi, which he operated with his brother.
Compo was flying the small plane, which crashed into a house, setting it ablaze. The residents escaped.
The family was returning home from Canton, Georgia where they had been since December 29. They were just a half-mile from their destination to the Oakland Southwest Airport according to a news release from the (Homebuilders Association of Michigan, where Compo is president). ....

LYON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) A small plane flying from Georgia crashed into a house in southeastern Michigan, killing the pilot and two family members.
The victims were David S. Compo, the former president of the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan, his wife Michele and their son Dawson, the association said in a news release. ....

A prominent home builder and his family died Saturday afternoon when their small plane crashed into a home in Lyon Township just a half mile short of its destination, setting the house on fire.

David Compo, 60, his wife, Michele, 55, and their son 18-year-old Dawson were headed to Oakland/Southwest Airport when their plane crashed, according to the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan.
Neighbors said they helped the residents escape from a home in the 57000 block of Dakota, which suffered extensive damage from the crash. The plane was protruding from the home and covered with a tarp Saturday evening. ....
