Oak Bay issues temporary protection order blocking removal of 2nd oldest home in the district

Oak Bay council has prevented the relocation of an 1880s farmhouse in the seaside community by placing a temporary protection order on the property.
The home sits on a property at the intersection of Hampshire Road and Musgrave Street and is currently on the market for a reported $3.2 million. The current owner of the house wants to relocate it to Metchosin, with further plans to subdivide the property.
“The family is looking to sell the land and one member of the family wants to move the house to live in,” said Oak Bay Mayor Kevin Murdoch. “The house is on the (district’s) Heritage Register, so that request to move the house has to come to council for review.” ....

Oak Bay seeks public feedback on plans to redevelop popular marina

VICTORIA
The District of Oak Bay is asking for the public’s input on a new look for the lands occupied by the Oak Bay Marina and the Turkey Head walkway.
The lease agreement between the municipality and the province on the property is set to expire at the end of December 2022. In 2020, Oak Bay requested proposals to redevelop the lands on Beach Drive for the next lease term.
Since the Nov. 30 2020 deadline for proposals ended, the district has narrowed it down to two choices. It is now looking for the public’s feedback on the development proposals.
“We’re going to take all of that feedback and rank those as council,” said Oak Bay Mayor Kevin Murdoch. “The technical response and the community amenity response will all play into the final selection.” ....
