An Asian woman was reportedly pepper-sprayed while walking along a street in New York City’s SoHo. For no apparent reason, an unidentified sedan pulled up beside the victim before one of the passengers rolled down a window and attacked her face with pepper spray. The attacker did not yell any slurs, and the police do not consider the unprovoked incident a hate crime, according to the New York Daily News. ....

Man dies when his car hits tree in NW Houston

A man died when his car crashed into a tree in northwest Houston Sunday morning.
The man was driving a white Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Queenston when he struck a tree near Barker Cypress Road. He died at the scene, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Department.
Phillip Lillibridge, an accident investigator with the Harris County Sheriff’s office, said that certain damages, such as the steering wheel snapping at the stem, indicate that the driver was likely speeding.
“We could tell by the marks on the roadway, and damage from striking the tree that there was significant speed involved,” Lillibridge said. ....
