Lightning sparked a fire at an apartment in northeast iowa this morning. Firefighters from four departments responded just after 5 this morning to the apartment at main and jefferson streets. Firefighters say no one was hurt in the fire. In polk city, a person died after a house caught on fire. Firefighters responded to the home, located north of des moines, just before 9 last night. Fire investigators are still trying to figure out what sparked the flames. It took crews about 15 least 1 person did escape, but crews found a body of someone else in the basement. The victims name is not yet public. Cedar rapids fire investigators say a fire at rileys caf near downtown cedar rapids started in or near a ventilation fan by the dishwashing area. The top soil is full of nutrients and forms a habitat for numerous microbes. The human layer it provides the material that plants need to grow. Fertile soil doesnt come out of nowhere. Its formed from rocks that are with it by the sun, wind, and rain. And its decomposed by organisms and plug. It takes 2000 years to create 10 centimeters of fertile soil. Mm.
