IPOH: A marine police corporal who was charged with 43 counts of accepting bribes amounting to RM146,350 between 2016 and 2019 yesterday, was slapped with another 101 counts of a similar offence, involving more than RM243,00, at the Sessions Court here today.
Zubairi Abdul Mutalib (pix, centre), 60, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges before judge S. Indra Nehru and also requested that he be tried jointly with the 101 alternatives charges made against him.
The head of PSC 16 Patrol Vessel Machinery at the Marine Police Base in Kg Acheh, Sitiawan, was charged with receiving the bribes of between RM7,285 and RM123,390, from seven individuals, involving a total of RM243,040, between May 2016 and July 2019. ....

Marine cop pleaded not guilty to 43 counts of corruption in Ipoh

IPOH: A marine policeman has been charged with 43 counts of graft at a Sessions Court here.
Kpl Zubairi Abdul Mutalib with the Kampung Acheh marine police base in Sitiawan, claimed trial to all the charges before judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini.
According to the charge sheet, Zubairi, 60, who is an off-shore patrol vessel unit chief, was said to have received a total of RM146,350 between May 2016 and July 2019 from the savings account of Lim Mee Lan as an inducement not to take action on the owner of several vessels, who had committed offences under the Fisheries Act.
He was charged under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act. ....

IPOH: A marine police corporal was charged in the Sessions Court here today with 43 counts of accepting bribes amounting to RM146,350 between 2016 and 2019.
Zubairi Abdul Mutalib, 60, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges after they were read out before judge Priscilla Hemamalini.
Zubairi, who is head of PSC 16 Patrol Vessel Machinery at the Marine Police Base in Kg Acheh, Sitiawan, was charged with obtaining bribes amounting to RM146,350 through money transfers from the saving account belonging to Lim Mee Lan as an inducement not to take action against the owner of 18 vessels which had committed offences under the Fisheries Act 1985. ....

Two Myanmar refugees fined RM2.5k each for offering RM60 bribe to cop

Abdul Manaf Abu Khalaf (in white) and Arif Dilda Amin (pink) pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to bribe a policeman.
IPOH: Two refugees from Myanmar were fined RM2,500 each by a Sessions Court here for trying to bribe a policeman with RM60.
Both Abdul Manaf Abu Khalaf, 28, and Arif Dilda Amin, 24, helpers at a wholesale market here, pleaded guilty to the charge before Judge S. Indera Nehru.
“Considering the guilty plea, the facts of the case, as well as the mitigating factors, a RM2,500 fine each is imposed. If both of you are unable to settle the fine, it is two months jail in default, ” she said. ....
