MARYLAND – The Maryland Higher Education (MHEC) announced the Nurse Support Program II will give a little over $1 million dollars in funding to the state’s to educate nurses.
With a surge of COVID-19 positive cases, the need for nurses was at an all time high according to Governor Larry Hogan.
Among the colleges awarded are, Salisbury university, University of Maryland, Baltimore and Wor-wic community college. According to MHEC, nominees included 45% new nursing faculty from groups such as men and African American, Hispanic, Asian, American Indian and Alaskan natives.
This program is said to encourage new and innovative approaches to address the challenges and demands facing nursing.
