Ghostly Casper opened the 2023 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold season by winning the first of two $101,300 divisions for three-year-old trotting colts as the road to the $2.4 million Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals began tonight at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
After both finished runner-up in the opening round of the Ontario-Sired Spring Series, Elises Delight and Chedda Chedda landed winning blows in their respective $18,000 divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies on Thursday night (April 13) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With heavy favourite Need To Breathe drifting off the pylons down the stretch, the pocket pursuer Western Wish slipped through for the biggest upset of the night in the $32,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace on Friday, Jan. 20 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The final Gold Series events of the season for two-year-old trotters were contested Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and a number of horses were making late-season pushes to earn points for next weekend’s Super Finals.
