POLITICAL rivals have called on a disgraced councillor to resign following his conviction for misconduct in a public office.
Middlesbrough councillor Jon Rathmell pleaded guilty to the charge this morning when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court.
The offence related to an “abuse of public trust” in public office linked to Nunthorpe Community Council in 2018 and 2019.
The misrepresentation of emails and a misrepresented and delayed payment of £1,500 for fireworks were part of the charge.
