The Oyibi Gonten Mantse, Nii Bortey Kofi Frankwa II, has urged the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey, to fulfil his ‘vetting’ promise of granting scholarships to brilliant students who would show interest in studying the Ga language at the highest level.
Nii Frankwa II said the traditional authorities in the entire region had welcomed the promise as they acknowledged that the provision of scholarships would serve as an incentive to compel more students to develop interest in the language. Besides, it would help the students pursue it at the highest level to help produce teachers who would be dedicated to the teaching of the language.

The Oyibi Gonten Mantse, Nii Bortey Kofi Frankwa II, has called on the Ministry of Education to enforce compliance and ensure that all basic schools in the Greater Accra Region study the Ga language.
He said the ministry must also ensure that there were trained teachers available to teach the subject at all stages of the education ladder.
Nii Frankwa, who is also the Regent of the Nungua Mankralo Stool, in an interview with the Daily Graphic yesterday, said he had taken notice of the refusal of some schools in the region to offer Ga as a language at the basic level.
Nii Frankwa, therefore, called on the Ministry of Education to make it a priority to train teachers to take up the subject. He noted that all basic schools in the Greater Accra region must also be compelled to study the Ga language. Oyibi Gonten Mantse, Nii Bortey Kofi Frankwa II Pulse Ghana
“We have seen that gradually, some basic schools in the Oyibi area and other parts of the region are not offering the Ga language anymore because of the lack of qualified teachers to take pupils through the subject, so we would like to seek the government’s intervention to correct this anomaly with immediate effect,” he told the Daily Graphic.
