A Durban pensioner has been sentenced to 35 years behind bars for the brutal murder of his girlfriend and their three-year-old child, who both succumbed to their injuries after being attacked with a bush knife.
The Durban high court imposed the sentence on 62-year-old Thembinkosi Ngcobo after he pleaded guilty to the murder of his girlfriend, Ntombifuthi Blose, 30, and their child Minenhle Blose, which took place in September 2020 in Phoenix, north of the city. ....

Durban: A KZN pensioner, who killed his girlfriend and her child, pleaded guilty in the Durban High Court.
The National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson for KZN, Natasha Kara, said sentencing proceedings for Thembinkosi Thatios Ngcobo, 62, would take place on Wednesday.
In his guilty plea, Ngcobo said he had been dating Ntombifuthi Blose since 2016. He said he had been living and working in Pietermaritzburg.
He said Blose gave birth to the child, Minenhle Blose, in 2017 and he was told he was the biological father.
He told the court that she would also visit him frequently. ....

Thembinkosi Ngcobo pleaded guilty in the Durban High Court on Friday.
Thirty-four-year old Ntombifuthi Blose and two-year-old daughter, Swelihle where attacked with a bushknife at his home in Phoenix in October last year.
In Ngcobo s plea statement read out in court, he says that he began dating Blose in 2016 and a year later, she gave birth to Swelihle, whom he believed was his child.
He says in September last year, Blose decided to move in with him. ....
