Fund-raising numbers in almost every big race in the country. dana: my last question for you is, we re five days away. tuesday is your favorite day of the year, election day. what do you look for? you re an expert. us lay people, we re just watching, but you know what to look for. so tell us what you look for in the last few days before a midterm election like this? this is sort of standard for every midterm election, but how independent swing is going to define a lot of these close competitive races. i will give you one race to keep a close eye on that we ll know early on election night. the 6th district of kentucky, which is in mitch mcconnell s back yard. it s a district trump won by 16 points. it s a very republican area. but it s a neck and neck race between andy barr and amy mcgrath. if democrats get an upset in mcconnell s back yard, it will be a pretty big night for democrats. dana: our next guest will talk about amy mcgrath and a few ....
The recreational marijuana front this year is movement is trying to break into the midwest. measures are on the ballot in michigan and north dakota. the michigan one looks like it has a better chance of passing but it would be the first state in the midwest after pmeasured failed in ohio. dana: we have a pew poll that shows marijuana should be legal democrats 69%, republicans 45%. in some of the tight races, michigan and missouri, those are the two we re really tracking, do democrats end up turning out to vote for an issue like this? that was definitely conventional wisdom a couple years ago. it was always good for democrats to have a marijuana measure on the ballot. as time has gone on, i m not sure that s the case. this election might tell us if nebraska voters north dakota voters approve it, that would be a state that voted republican ....

Thanksgiving. among those not hopeful that there will be a decision on tuesday is the incumbent senator. i think it s a very good probability. it will be three weeks after the november 6th election. it will be the tuesday after thanksgiving. we re really concerned about getting the vote out at that time. we are just going to continue to run this race like we did from the very beginning. reporter: the conservative candidate is in third place, but with double digit support. he s trying to capitalize on cindy hyde-smith s past as a registered democrat. i m the only conservative in this race. my major opposition, both democrats their entire lives. one voted for barack obama, the other voted for hillary clinton. i m the only guy in this race who didn t vote for barack or hillary. reporter: she said to look into her record. dana: peter, is there early voting there? ....
There s a wide variety of measures. dana: tell me about election night. everyone is looking at the individuals and candidates winning or losing. what do you look for? what might that tell you about the election to come in 2020? so, initiatives are very susceptible to trends. so if you can get a measure that advances a certain policy to pass in one state or two state, then you re more likely to see that measure again. some new ideas so looking to see if things like medicade expansion continue to be successful, as it was in maine in 2017, and whether some new proposals in california that are a little experimental, perhaps, but you can see more similar ones in the future. dana: it is going to be interesting across the country, the number one issue people say is healthcare. immigration and president trump second and third right after that. but medicade expansion being on these ballots in these key states is going to be very ....
