Have a written infant feeding policy that is routinely communicated to staff and parents.
Establish ongoing monitoring and data-management systems.
Ensure that staff have sufficient knowledge, competence and skills to support breastfeeding.
Discuss the importance and management of breastfeeding with pregnant women and their families.
Facilitate immediate and uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact and support mothers to initiate breastfeeding as soon as possible after birth.
Support mothers to initiate and maintain breastfeeding and manage common difficulties.
Do not provide breastfed newborns any food or fluids other than breast milk, unless medically indicated.
Enable mothers and their infants to remain together and to practice rooming-in 24 hours a day. ....

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - Citing declining virus cases in the community, Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center announced on Monday that it is adjusting visitor restrictions.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, most adults and children hospitalized at Novant Health facilities in North Carolina will be allowed to have two visitors per day.
“Restrictions remain in place for COVID-19 positive patients who are hospitalized or in the emergency room, as well as patients who are under investigation for COVID-19. Exceptions may continue to be granted in special circumstances, such as end-of-life care,” according to a news release. ....

Novant Health Hospitals Update Visitors Restrictions

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (News Release) – As COVID-19 cases continue to decline in our communities, Novant Health is adjusting its visitor restrictions. As of Monday, March 15, at 8 a.m., most adults and children hospitalized at Novant Health facilities in North Carolina will be allowed to have two visitors per day. Restrictions remain in place for COVID-19 positive patients who are hospitalized or in the emergency room, as well as patients who are under investigation for COVID-19. Exceptions may continue to be granted in special circumstances, such as end-of-life care.
Visitors are required to complete a routine screening questionnaire with temperature assessment. Visitors must also wear a mask for the duration of the visit as is standard practice for all patients and team members at our facilities. Novant Health will continue to limit entrances and exits to centralize foot traffic. Visitation hours remain in effect for specific areas. ....

Local program builds relationship between police officers, families

A new program in memory of a fallen Mount Holly Police officer will help build bridges between officers and civilians for years to come.
Micha Autry – a nurse at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center – was grieving with her fellow Mount Holly residents following the shooting death of Officer Tyler Herndon in December 2020 when she read about large-scale adopt-an-officer programs across the U.S.
Generally the programs connect law enforcement officers and first responders to families, who will support and thank their officer for their service with gifts cards, money and other gifts.
Autry – the mother of a firefighter and cousin of a police officer – thought a smaller, localized program could benefit the Mount Holly area. ....
