Staging an outdoor music festival across the world to mark the end of COVID-19 pandemic is the plan of Richard Wong, president of Edmonton-based Nova Hotels, which has 14 hotels across Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories.
“The two- or three-day festivals would be held in cities and towns across the world and would boost the economy and lift spirits everywhere,” he says.
“Each festival would have a great big bonfire and mark a coming-together to remember those we lost, and celebrate the power of joining together to overcome adversity.”
Wong said he’d like to have staged the festivals this summer. But that’s now too early, with question marks over vaccine availability. Later, in November, December or January 2022, seem better dates.
