Legal framework
Turkey is a party to a number of international conventions, including the Paris Convention, the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights and the Berne Convention. Turkey also has specific national legislation, including:
the Industrial Property Code 6769;
the Law on Turkish Intellectual and Artistic Works (5846) (known as the Copyright Act);
the Code of Commerce;
the Anti-smuggling Law; and
Law 5651 on Regulating Broadcasting in the Internet and Fighting Against Crimes Committed through Internet Broadcasting (known as the Internet Law).

Amendments to Law 17/2014 brought by Law 175/2020 became effective in February, as secondary legislation was published in the Romanian Official Gazette on February 8, 2021.
The chief innovations in the new legislation are:
Extending the list of pre-emptors from three to seven categories;
Extending the pre-emption period from 30 calendar days to 45 business days;
Creating a new category of preferential specialized buyers, which have an extra 30 business days following the pre-emption period to exercise their right to buy;
For leaseholders to qualify as pre-emptors, there are the requirements:
to have a valid lease agreement in force for the land being sold for at least one year before the farmland sale offer is published;for leaseholders and their controlling shareholders ....
