It was the first day of the Market on the Green in Whitehall, and little Trout was just soaking up the attention.

People trickled in to take advantage of fresh produce, honey, arts and crafts, food-truck fare and other merchandise provided by the 18 vendors at the event.
Whitehall unleashes development of new dog park
Breanna Brumfield likes the idea of a dog park in her Whitehall neighborhood.
The city held a ground-breaking ceremony May 12 for the new greenspace at the corner of Beechwood Road and Washburn Street.
“it’s a good stimulation to meet other dogs and it’s good for puppies because puppies learn how to socialize,” said Brumfield, who walks 10 to 15 dogs a day, including her own, Atlas, a 1-year-old German shepherd-husky mix. “It’s really cool.
“As long as everybody makes sure their dogs are friendly and heathy, that they know of when they go to the dog park, I’d say it’s a safe thing.

In an effort to make the Norton Crossing area a bigger attraction, the city of Whitehall may establish a designated outdoor refreshment area for a section of the mixed-use development at the southwest corner of Broad Street and Hamilton Road.
Under terms of the DORA, the city would allow anyone age 21 and older to buy an alcoholic beverage that would be served in a special cup denoting that the drink is intended for consumption within the DORA boundaries.
City Council is expected to vote on DORA legislation May 4. Until then, Jenna Goehring, Whitehall’s economic development manager, said the public is encouraged to comment on the proposal at whitehall-oh.us.
