Byron Bay man Shane Smollen, his lifelong friend Rob Rubis , and V8 Supercar driver Shane van Gisbergen steered Smollen s BMW M4 to victory in the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour held on Sunday, the first race meet for the car. He said it was fantastic to see so many local drivers among the placegetters over the weekend.  Shane Smollen and his teammates Shane van Gisbergen and Rob Rubis won the Bathurst 6 Hour on the weekend. ....

On March 17, 2021, Surfing Australia announced all its surfing team will combine under The Irukandjis: Deadly in the Water, named after the Irukandji jellyfish. Three times world para surfing champion and recent Lennox Head resident Matt Formston, 42, said he s thrilled all the different surfing genres, including Junior, Open, Masters, Olympic, Longboard, Big Wave, Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) and Adaptive disciplines, would compete under The Irukandjis national identity and united colours at international events such as the Olympics, International Surfing Association (ISA), World Surfing Games, WSL World Juniors and Longboard Championships. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A Northern Rivers rugby league club has rewarded its players who have made a commitment to their training by inviting them to compete in the Burleigh 9s this weekend. On Saturday (March 13), 16 members of the Marist Brothers Lismore Rams A Grade will travel up north to take on the competition in the Burleigh 9s round robin event which features teams from Tugun, Burleigh, Gold Coast and Southport. Coach Mark Sivewright said the competition, which kicks off at noon at the Burleigh Bears Leagues Club, will be a sensational way to keep their pre-season momentum going. Sivewright said he was “very happy” with the players progress to date. ....

Premium Content Subscriber only Almost 1000 athletes will swim 1.9km, cycle 90km then run a half marathon of 21.1km when they take on the seventh annual Tweed Enduro at Pottsville on Saturday. The main event is fully booked with a wait list but there are a few entries available in the sprint event only. The annual event which will be held on March 6 has more than 950 people entered, including Men s Open athlete Nathan Dortmann who will return to fight for his place on the podium after narrowly missing out top honours in 2020. In the Women s Open, Ella Coates will be vying for the top spot after a recent podium at the Kingscliff Triathlon. ....
