Developer fights to shave $2.6m off bill to Ballina council

A developer will argue an error of law was made when the Land and Environment Court made a ruling against them earlier this year.
Intrapac Property is trying to have $2,647,349.92 shaved off their developer contributions payable to Ballina Shire Council for the Aureus subdivision in Skennars Head.
The proposed change went to a deemed refusal appeal before the Land and Environment Court when the council did not give a determination within a set period of time.
Intrapac chief operating officer Max Shifman said the developer had lodged an appeal against Acting Commissioner Philip Clay s January, 2021 judgment which went in favour of the council. ....

A trucking company has received approval to build a new depot and office, even though it had already been set up for years.
AB Contracting, an earthmoving and quarry product supplies and transport company, has been operating from its Sandy Flat site as a home business .
However according to town planner Anthony Daintith, who prepared a report on the development application for Tenterfield Shire Council, the business has grown and employs more than 20 people, necessitating the requirement for development consent to operate .
The DA before the council was to continue the use of the site as a truck depot, and for a new workshop/shed, gravel pads, parking areas, office and amenities building, access to Primrose Hill Rd and a landscaping screen. ....

Next-level glamping with 'bubble tents' for stargazing

Plans for a new glamping set-up at Tenterfield would include bubbletents that are designed for stargazing.
The development application for the site on Holleys Rd has been given the green light by the council after a close vote, with Mayor Peter Petty using his casting vote to get it over the line.
According to documents lodged with the council, the campground would have just four Bubblesuites and one Tiny Bubble .

From the ashes: Sawmill's big decision after bushfire

The operators of a Richmond Valley sawmill are finally looking to restart operations, almost 18 months after it was destroyed in a devastating bushfire.
A development application has been lodged with Richmond Valley Council for the site of the Myrtle Creek sawmill on Myrtle Creek Rd, and it is currently on public exhibition.
However it is not for a full-scale sawmill.
In documents lodged with the council by Graham Meineke of Lismore-based GM Project Development and Management, it states the DA is for a mobile sawmill that will primarily saw/dock logs for the firewood market .
The operators will not use the main shed, which was partially destroyed, along with two saws, in the 2019 bushfires. ....
