NFA calls for more awareness of women’s rights Northern Football Association president Ross Russell. - THE Northern Football Association (NFA) is calling for more “awareness of the rights of women in various spheres of football.” The NFA made this call during their message on International Women’s Day, which was commemorated on Monday. In a media release, the NFA said, “International Women’s Day, commemorated on March 8 of every year, is earmarked to celebrate womanhood, and to recognise her achievements without regard to divisions, be it national, ethnic, cultural, economic, or political. Achieving an equal future in a covid19 world” is the theme for this year’s Women’s Day. ....

NIGEL SIMON Despite word that former national goalkeeper Ross Russell was elected as its new president on Boxing Day (December 26), the sitting executive of the Northern Football Association (NFA) is slated to hold its annual general meeting (AGM) which has on the agenda, the election for a new executive today. The AGM and elections to replace the existing executive led by out-going president and well-known businessman and media personality Anthony Harford is carded to take place at the St James Youth Centre, Fort George Road, St James from 5.30 pm. Rayshawn Mars, the general secretary of the NFA told Guardian Media Sports on Sunday that his executive was actually in the midst of preparing for tomorrowâs election which is expected to see the Anthony âDadaâ Wickham-led slate go up against the slate led by football administrator and national team manager, Richard Piper. ....

NFA: EFATT president accused of interference, Downer and ‘Dada’ dispute validity of EGM date The Northern Football Association (NFA) board of directors has accused Eastern Football Association (EFATT) president Kieron Edwards of violating the constitution of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) and the NFA, by seeking to interfere in its electoral process. Edwards, who is also a director in the Ascension Football Tournament and a UNC alderman in the Arima Borough Corporation, claimed earlier this week that his only interest in the north zone is as a sponsor, and he is responding to requests for support from NFA member clubs. ....
