SANTA FE – A high-ranking administrator with a nonprofit who had been accused of having illegal contracts with Española Public Schools had three of four charges dismissed because the state Attorney General’s Office failed to properly instruct the grand jury that indicted him.
Barney Trujillo, who now serves as operations manager for the Northern Area Local Workforce Board, was originally charged with three counts of unlawful interest in a public contract and failure to disclose campaign contributions. The three charges related to the public contracts were dismissed Jan. 27, but he still faces a charge of failing to disclose a campaign contributions to school board members that voted to award him the contracts. ....
