Authorities have used drumlines to catch and tag a five metre white shark spotted off Cottesloe Beach on Friday morning.
Surf Life Saving WA closed the beach at 9.30am after spotting the shark from its helicopter tracking about 300 metres off shore.
The white shark at times dragged the Fisheries boat as it thrashed in the ocean before appearing to tire.
