Major housing development proposed for Canandaigua called off by developer

Chrisanntha Inc. wanted to develop approximately 72 single-family homes, which would have been known as the North Classics subdivision on approximately 30 acres of land in the area of North Road and Stewart Place. The homes would have ranged between $300,000 and $325,000. They would have been between 1,400 and 1,700 square feet. City Council voted last week to start the review process on the next series of approvals. They also appeared to largely support the project, but did not want to see part of the property turned over to the City for park land, according to The Daily Messenger.

Chrisanntha Inc withdraws housing plan in Canandaigua

MPNnow CANANDAIGUA The developer seeking to build 72 single-family homes in the northeast section of the city is withdrawing the proposal, a day after Canandaigua City Council voted to move the plan along for further review. Gorham-based Chrisanntha Inc. wanted to build the North Classics subdivision on roughly 30 acres of land in the area of North Road and Stewart Place, in one of the few undeveloped areas of the city. Prices of the 1,400- to 1,700-square foot homes would have ranged from $300,000 to $325,000. City Council on Thursday night voted in a largely procedural action to start the review process on the next series of approvals, which would have included a change in zoning and actual site details at the City Planning Commission level.
