Fifty years after the University of Utah opened the doors of the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library, the university broke ground on the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine.
Spencer Fox Eccles donated $110 million from two Eccles family foundations to the University of Utah’s School of Medicine, which will now be named after him. Spence Eccles was the first in his family to attend the U., when he joined the ski team in 1952.
The University of Utah today broke ground on the new state-of-the-art home for its Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine. The $185 million facility has been made possible, in part, by funds from a landmark gift of $110 million from the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation and the Nora Eccles Treadwell Foundation.
