The Restoration of a Charming 80s Mohali Home-cum-Studio
Periodically, spaces require updates and transformations to accommodate changing lifestyles and needs. To this end, architect Noor Dasmesh Singh of NOOR Architects Consultants decided to rehaul his 1980s studio and home in Mohali, close to Chandigarh. The firm adopted a sensitive approach towards the renovation, the result being a design that delicately balances the old and the new. “The design intervention aspires to retain and respect the existing quality of the built form its ‘materiality as well as ‘exterior form and adapt it to an evolving way of living and working,” informs Singh. The facades and a few select inner walls are composed of wire-cut exposed bricks, lending an unmistakable earthy appeal to the structure.
