A fund is available to the Falmouth Public Library board of trustees over and above the libraryâs annual operational budget.
Established in the 1890s by James M. Beebe, the trustees fund was formalized by Town Meeting vote in 1902. The fund has grown from $337 in 1897 to $23,000 in 1986 to nearly $681,922 today.
âOver the last 30-plus years, weâve gotten some bigger chunks donated to the library, which have been earmarked for library enhancement,â trustee chairwoman Judith Fenwick said.
This includes a $274,990 bequeathment from the William Gallagher Trust in 2011, library Director Linda E. Collins said.
âThese donations to the library go to, and are managed by, the library trustees,â Ms. Collins said.
