Cape Town – Hundreds of people showed up to protest against LGBTQIA+ hate-crimes and murders that have recently taken place, particularly that of Andile “Lulu” Ntuthela.
The body of Ntuthela, 40, was discovered this week in a shallow grave at the house of the man who allegedly murdered her in KwaNobuhle in Uitenhage.
The man charged for his murder appeared in court this week.
The #JusticeForLulu protest, which started at CPUT, had people marching to Parliament to handover a memorandum of demands related to the Hate Crime Bill.
Film-maker, activist and organiser Tutu Zondo said the LGBTQIA+ community was suffering. ....

Durban - As Human Rights Month ended, Sphamandla Khozaâs family learnt that he was killed in an alleged hate crime which sparked outrage, calls for justice and marches.
Last week, the 34-year-oldâs body was discovered in a ditch near his home in Ntuzuma. Khozaâs throat was slit and he was stabbed multiple times.
His death was suspected to be a homophobic hate crime by his family and the LGBTQI+ community. Khozaâs cousin Ndumiso Ngidi said the killing was allegedly perpetrated by men who knew, grew up with and lived in the same neighbourhood as Khoza. ....

Grief, shock and fear after gay Durban man brutally murdered

Grief, shock and anger has followed the brutal murder of Durban man Sphamandla Khoza.
His cousin said his body had been dumped near a school.
A night vigil and march was held to ensure justice for Khoza and the protection of the LGBTQI+ community.
There has been shock, outrage and fear over the safety of LGBTQI+ people following the brutal murder of KwaZulu-Natal man Sphamandla Khoza, who had apparently been bullied over being gay days before he was killed.
It is heartbreaking, his cousin Ndumiso Daluxolo Ngidi told News24 on Friday.
Out of respect for Khoza s grandmother, he said he wanted to speak to the family first before releasing broader details, but said the last time he had seen Khoza alive was on Sunday with friends in Ntuzuma. ....
