Girls Hoops Route 49 Classic: Edon beats Edgerton, will face Hicksville in title


EDGERTON — Edon started the first half hot in its opening Route 49 Classic game on Monday night and never looked back against Edgerton.
The Bombers got a 22-4 halftime lead and kept that advantage in a 37-23 win over the Bulldogs at Edgerton High School.
Edon advanced to today’s Route 49 Classic title game against Hicksville, which knocked off Antwerp 41-28 in Monday’s opener. Edgerton will play Antwerp in the consolation game at 6 p.m. with the Edon-Hicksville game to follow.
“I thought our girls came out and executed well in the first half. We made some adjustments,” Edon coach Caela Walker said. “I’m just pleased with their effort and we’re excited to come back tomorrow and compete.” ....
