There was bad news for Liverpool last night after Andy Robertson appeared to damage his ankle in Scotland’s 1-0 friendly defeat to Northern Ireland at Hampden Park. The defender is set for a scan back at his club to assess the potential problem. Robertson, 30, could not continue after sustaining an injury following a heavy challenge in the first half from Sunderland’s Trai Hume and was replaced by Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson. “We’ll assess him,” Scotland manager Steve Clarke said after the game. “He’ll go back to his club and they’ll assess him. Hopefully, he’s back soon.”
The England men’s team played without names on the back of their shirts during the second half of their friendly against Belgium on Tuesday as part of their partnership with Alzheimer’s Society. This change from the first half to the second half of the game was designed to draw attention to memory loss, the most commonly associated symptom of dementia, which is caused by Alzheimer’s. The game at Wembley Stadium finished 2-2.
