Citizens under missile fire from gaza. this is a small reminder that still, as we speak, the entire southern israel, the one million israelis are constantly under missile fire from gaza. jenna: we re seeing some of the footage that we have of and some of the pictures that you shared with us, noam, of the one of the areas where the rocket hit. what do you make of the timing of this rocket fire? to be honest, we actually did expect this to happen. when we have half of the palestinian arabs living in the gaza slip and hamas controlling the entire territory and president obama was scheduled to be meeting with [inaudible] in ramallah. we needed to be expected to show that hamas is definitely part of the [inaudible] over here declaring on their charter for genocide, by the way, for the jewish people and ....
Any terror militia in the world 20 years to get to where they are today. so it s been happening in our part of the region, it s very, very important to understand this can be the entire future of having a pal tip yang state palestinian state on the west bank [inaudible] opinion happening in our part of the region. jenna: this is just one perspective from the ground. noam, appreciate it. he s from the area where these rockets hit. we want to talk a little wit more about what we heard from iran today as well. very strong words from the supreme leader there, the one that really has the power. he is not optimistic, he says, about nuclear negotiations with the united states, but he also said he s not opposed to them either. he went on the to say if israel attacks iran, iran will annihilate tel aviv. michael singh joins us often on these issues from can we scroll up a little bit? he s a senior director of middle eastern affairs at the national security council, current managing directo ....
In the house see it as kind of going off on a tangent. they don t want to take this up. it even splits democrats so it s not really an issue that you find a lot of unity on. so it s a long way from being an issue in washington, in congress, but the president is getting a lot of pressure to on both sides of the equation, both to prosecute people who are illegally smoking marijuana and selling marijuana and to not, so it s something that is a hairy issue right now we don t see a resolution to. i do find it particularly interesting, noam, we know of patrick kennedy s history with drugs, does want cancer patients and others with serious illnesses to be able to obtain marijuana but in a more regular way and wants increased funding for greg dependency as well so those caught using marijuana might avoid incarceration and get help. any chance that this becomes an issue that does pick up some bipartisan support? well, you know, i think what ....
A deal doesn t get cut. broader discussions probably with tax reform and reforming entitlements and then hopefully i think for the sake of all of us who perhaps are a little concerned about all the focus on fiscal stuff, will move on to domestic matters and gun control and immigration reform as well. a quick prediction from you, noam? i think the debt limit thing will loom very large. my prediction is they do something that resolves it for a year or two, but that makes it more dangerous going forward for democrats. thanks to both of you. i will see you back here at 5:00 p.m. eastern for the very latest on the fiscal cliff negotiations and possibly votes. up next, meet the press, david gregory s exclusive interview with president obama. we ll keep you updated throughout the hour on any elements when it comes to the deal-making on capitol hill. ve a cold, announcer ] alka-selr plus presents the cold truth. i have a cold, and i took nyquil, but i m still stubbed up. ....
It does seem at least that the sentiment may be shifting from, you know, two or three weeks ago absolutely, no way, not going to go over the cliff, and now you have a lot of folks who are starting to say, hey, you know what, we might go over the cliff. absolutely. there s several leading democrats who are sort of pushing the white house to do just that. now, the white house s line is we don t want that. the president has spent this time in the past two weeks meeting with constituents, stake holders and this. he s heard from business leaders, big-level ceos and small business leaders that they want certainty and not to have to go through this again and again. i think that is the message the white house wants to put out there and regardless of whether they come to, like, a full agreement on the taxes or where whether they push it off, i think the white house is trying to be consistent and hold the line and make republicans come to them. noam, one of your latest articles, the headline ....
