ITHACA, NY The proposed Cliff Street Retreat Planned United Development (PUD) faced few comments during its public information session on May 6, though neighbor Dave Nutter did have some concerns about the topography of the area. The project is proposed to include about 12 living units, boutique retail and meeting space in the former Incodema building at 407 Cliff St. Nutter said his first impression of the plan was that it “didn’t seem realistic” because of the extreme slope on the south end of the property. The project team has expressed a desire to find a way to provide a connection to either Cass Park or the Black Diamond Trail, which Nutter said didn’t look feasible to him.

ITHACA, NY As Incodema moves to a new facility in Dryden later this year, developer Linc Morse has ideas about what to make of its former building at 407 Cliff St. in Ithaca. His plans look at myriad possibilities, including units for short-term and long-term rentals, office space, meeting rooms, retail space, community meeting space, conference space and retail. The name proposed is the Cliff Street Retreat. However, because of the zoning in that area, the project was in front of the Planning and Economic Development Committee (PEDC) on April 21 for the first steps in its Planned Unit Development (PUD) consideration. PUDs allow for more flexible zoning as long as the project has proven community benefit.

New ownership to bring changes to Country Club of Ithaca

ITHACA, NY The Country Club of Ithaca is about to see some changes as new owners get ready to take over. Sean and Jennifer Whittaker are in the process of purchasing the club and expect to close on the deal sometime in March. The couple have been members for 23 years and said the club is special to them. “We have two children, Rachel and Nicholas, that were born while we were members there, and they grew up at the club,” Sean said. “It’s about the friendships we’ve made over the years.” They have decided to rebrand the Country Club of Ithaca to “RaNic” which represents their children’s names.
