Ice storm warning: How NJ, NY are handling another round of winter weather


NEW YORK (WABC) Freezing rain and ice are big concerns for residents across the Tri-State area Tuesday morning, especially north and west of New York City.
In places like Morristown, New Jersey the temperature was hovering right around the freezing mark as rain fell.
Statewide there were reports of close to 10,000 power outages, most of those in Warren County.
North and west of New York City crews worked through the night to treat roads.
Eyewitness News was there are they loaded salt and sand into a dozen trucks in Passaic County, where they will begin by salting the higher elevations first. ....

Crews work to clear snow, rescue cars from icy floods in New Jersey

In Morristown, snowplow operators did their best to keep up with the rapidly accumulating snowfall.
Outside of town, people got stuck in the snow while driving and those dangerous road conditions continue Tuesday.
Morris and Passaic counties both saw more than two feet of snow accumulation. It s the biggest storm to hit the state in five years.
In Hackensack, crews managed to get some of the main roads and highways clear but not yet down to the blacktop.
A few more inches of snow are expected to fall there. ....
