A Sunshine Coast student woke to the news that he was one of only 30 students in Queensland to receive the top ATAR score.
Matthew Flinders Anglican College student Justin Holland, 18, scored an impressive 99.95- the highest score possible.
The high-achiever said it was great to see handwork pay off after a tumultuous year of mixed-learning and being the first cohort of Queensland students to navigate the ATAR system. With a top score of 99.95, Justin Holland hopes to become a surgeon, and has applied to study medicine at USC.
“Obviously this year was a bit different, with all the challenges we had due to COVID, but I think we were very fortunate with the way the school made the transition between normal learning and online learning,” he said.
