The Nigerian Army Council has promoted the former Commander, 23 Armour Brigade, Yola, Brig-Gen. Mohammed Gambo to the rank of a Major-General. Gambo had been reported to have supervised the invasion of the Adamawa State Police Command Headquarters by soldiers, where a police inspector identified as Jacob David lost his life. He had in November 2023 mobilised 12 trucks of heavily armed soldiers to invade the headquarters after a spat between some policemen and army personnel under his command.
However, a statement on Friday by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, said the council approved the promotions of the senior officers on Thursday.
