Town’s six new scholars for the 2010/11 season were inducted into the academy at Portman Road on Friday afternoon. The six youngsters include local lads Callum Bennett and Joe Whight, as well as a Norwegian, an Irishman, a Northern Irishman and a Welshman.
Striker Ronan Murray hit a first half hat-trick as Town s U18s won their annual friendly against Sole Bay United 6-0 on a windy Southwold Common. Tom Eastman, Jamie Griffiths and a Sole Bay defender completed the scoring.
Academy central defender Nicolay Schrøder has joined hometown club Frigg Oslo on loan in order to get games under his belt after an injury-hit season with the Blues. The second-year scholar, who was with Frigg prior to joining Town, has had his time at Playford Road
Blues boss Paul Jewell has revealed that young right-back Callum Bennett will be offered a one-year contract. The Blues boss says that youngsters such as Bennett and Luke Hyam, who recently signed a one-year deal of his own, will receive further rewards as they make progress.
