NEC finalises contract for Palau Cable 2 subsea cable Sign in with LinkedIn
18 January 2021 | Natalie Bannerman NEC Corporation has signed a contract with the National Submarine Cable Utility Belau Submarine Cable Corporation (BSCC) of the Palau Republic (Palau) for the Palau Cable 2 (PC2) subsea cable project.
Spanning 110km in length and due for completion by the end of 2022, PC2 will connect the island of Palau with a high capacity subsea cable that connects Southeast Asia and the US mainland.
PC2 with deploy a optical wavelength multiplexing transmission system of 100Gbps, and bring much-needed redundancy to Palau s existing subsea network. In addition, it will deliver highly reliable communications and responds meet the increasing need for communications infrastructure in Palau.

Huawei to build
€200m factory in France
Huawei has announced plans to invest €200 million in a network equipment factory in East France.
The new site will first employ 300 people before increasing to 500 in the long-term with the products made going to its European customers.
The news comes despite Huawei facing a ban on the use of its solutions across France’s telecoms networks. According to Reuters, the factory is part of Huawei’s efforts to ease global concerns that that the Chinese government could use the company’s equipment for spying.
