A LIBRARY is closer to reopening as discussions begin on a charity takeover. Fair Oak Library is one step closer to opening its doors as an independent community library as detailed discussions get underway between Hampshire County Council and the charity organisation set to take over the site. On July 28, 2020, the council approved proposals to transform the service to achieve savings of £1.76 million, towards the Local Authority’s overall budget shortfall and adapt the service to better meet customers needs. The decision was made following a public consultation, and included the County Council closing eight of its libraries, including Fair Oak.
