welcome to our viewers in the united states and around the world. it is tuesday, october 25th. i m christine romans. we begin this morning with the raucous face-off last night between ron desantis and charlie crist in the first and only debate of the florida governor s race. crist, the democrat, is behind in the polls, nearly out of campaign cash so he charged at the republican governor like a candidate with very little to lose. desantis mostly stuck to his talking points as the two tangled over a range of talking points like abortion and whether desantis will run for president. i would like to see everybody have a shot. i m proud of the 15 weeks that we did. i know charlie crist opposes that even though the baby is fully formed, has a heartbeat, can feel pain and can suck their thumb. i don t want to bana b abortion want to make sure we keep a woman s right free. i want to make sure we don t have a governor who wouldn t allow exceptions for rape or incest. yes or no, ron
i m christine romans. new day starts right now . two weeks from today. the midterm elections. brace yourself. i m john berman with brianna keilar. the race for control of the senate looks to be tight. new cnn polling shows democrat john fetterman with a slight edge over republican mehmet oz in pennsylvania. and in wisconsin ron johnson, democratic challenger men della barnes basically even. inflation the top issue. followed by abortion rights. early voting in that state begins today. in pennsylvania 44% of likely voters sight the economy. and more on debates in a moment. tonight in new york, a highly anticipated debate between incumbent democratic governor kathy hochul and republican challenge lee zeldin. zeldin made crime the focus of his campaign. and last night desantis and crist going toe-to-toe on abortion. and theian going poulter wars and may have his eye on the white house refusing to commit all four years if he wins the election. according to a top official,
League rules state game officials are prohibited to ask players or team personnel for autographs or memorabilia. it can be seen as a conflict of interest. cnn has asked out to the nfl referee s association. one of those refs a 21 year veteran, the other one in his fourth season. they ve been around the block a while. they can t claim they didn t know the rules. that certainly is like he s getting his autograph? could there be another explanation? validating his parking ticket? what could the other explanation be? there s not a great one, christine. if there was a questionable flag this that game and then he was getting an autograph afterwards, imagine what fans will be saying. at least there was a blowout. no question in the game. it leads you to wonder, was that the first time he s gotten an autograph of a player? all right. stay tuned to that. nice to see you, andy. andy scholes this morning. thanks for joining me.
