TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State track and field coach Bob Braman added another key piece to the Noles distance crew with the signing of Emmy van den Berg. Braman quote Van den Berg is from Nijmegen, Netherlands and has had great success representing her home country both on the cross country course and on the track. She is a very diverse runner who has competed internationally in the 800m run, the 1500m run and the 3000m run. Van den Berg ran a personal best last June in the 3000m run with an impressive time of 9:29.88. She also broke her personal best in the 1500m run at the Next Generation Athletics competition where she ran a 4:23.35. Van den Berg is also very impressive in the classroom boasting a 4.0 GPA and is in her second year of medicine school on the university level. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State track and field and cross country program has signed 12 athletes to the 2022 class Head Coach Bob Braman announced on Thursday morning. I'm really excited for this upcoming class, Braman said. This is one of our best women’s classes we’ve ever signed during the early period. We have signed several athletes who are in the top tier of their events in the nation. Overall, the class boasts 16 All-America honors across the 12 athletes. The Seminoles signed six distance runners, four sprinters, a hurdler and jumper. There are five transfers in the class and three athletes from the Netherlands. Highlighting the class is jumper Kayla Pinkard and sprinter Kaniya Johsnon. Pinkard is currently the No. 1 triple jumper in the nation, and Johnson leads the nation in the 60m dash and the 200m dash.
