Former Newton Police Chief's Son to Participate in 7000 Mile Journey of Hope This Summer

NEWTON, NJ The Newton Police Department’s former Chief, Robert Osborn’s son Trey, has decided to participate with his fraternity brothers in the Ability Experience: Journey of Hope.
Trey, a student at Virginia Tech and member of Pi Kappa Phi, will participate in the experience which helps “spread a message of disability awareness,” according to the mission statement.
He will undertake a journey that includes 7,000 miles of cycling. There are two routes that will kick off on the west coast starting on June 10. Two teams will spend the summer crossing the country until they reach their destination of Capital Lawn in Washington, DC on August 14. ....

The Sussex County Board of County Commissioners spent a considerable portion of their Wednesday night meeting recognizing the efforts of several non-profit groups and volunteer initiatives within Sussex County.  
Among the honorees were volunteers at the county’s vaccination site as part of Volunteer Appreciation Month; Ginnie’s House Children’s Advocacy Center for Child Abuse Prevention Month; DASI for Sexual Assault Awareness Month; the efforts of the county’s Municipal Alliance for Wear Purple Day and Alcohol Awareness Month; and the role of Sussex County’s  Government for National County Government Month.   ....

Sussex County Commissioners Pass Pro-Respect and Return to Constitutional Government Resolutions

(Newton, NJ) In response to an “anti-hate” resolution shared by a resident on Jan. 27  for consideration by the Sussex County Board of County Commissioners, and the presentation  of a counter anti-hate resolution by the Board on Feb. 10, on Wednesday night, the Board  unanimously passed a “pro-respect” resolution instead, which Board members stated is a more  positive and comprehensive version of the first two resolutions.  
After a marathon meeting on Feb. 24 of more than four hours, Wednesday’s meeting  exceeded that at close to 4.5 hours, again with more than 80 virtual attendees, expressing their  favor or opposition to the newest resolution.   ....
