Just 3 p.m., James City Police had spotted the wanted man in the parking lot of the Newport News Inn, a motel at 12880 Jefferson Avenue, south of Fort Eustis.When they called out to him, he ran into a motel room and locked the door. That triggered a massive law enforcement response.
