Princeton Symphony Orchestra to perform "Il barbiere di Siviglia" during Princeton Festival

(PRINCETON, NJ) The Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) will present a new production of Gioachino Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) as the centerpiece of its Princeton Festival to be held June 9-25, 2023. Rossen Milanov, Edward T. Cone Music Director and artistic head of the Princeton Festival, will conduct the opera which will receive a three-performance run. ....

Finnish Violinist Elina Vähälä to Perform Britten Concerto with Princeton Symphony Orchestra

(PRINCETON, NJ) American-born Finnish violinist Elina Vähälä appears for the first time with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) at performances the weekend of October 15-16. She ll play Benjamin Britten s under-performed Violin Concerto, Op. 15 on a largely English program also featuring Edward Elgar s Variations on An Original Theme, Op. 36 “Enigma.” US contemporary composer Jessie Montgomery s Starburst opens the concerts, conducted by Edward T. Cone Music Director Rossen Milanov on Saturday, October 15 at 8:00pm and Sunday, October 16 at 4:00pm. Performances take place at Richardson Auditorium, on the campus of Princeton University, with a 3:00pm pre-concert talk on Sunday. ....

Princeton Symphony Orchestra Opens 2022-23 Season with Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers and US Premiere

​​​​​​​(PRINCETON, NJ) The Princeton Symphony Orchestra’s (PSO’s) 2022-2023 season opens September 10-11 with the incomparable Anne Akiko Meyers performing Arturo Márquez’ new violin concerto Fandango. The work was commissioned by Ms. Meyers and was premiered by her in 2021 with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. Another concert highlight is the PSO’s US Premiere of Spanish composer Marcos Fernandez homage to Leonard Bernstein, America. Rounding out the striking concert program are Joaquín Turina’s Danzas fantásticas, Ruperto Chapí’s Prelude to La Revoltosa, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol. ....
