Belmont Police log, Jan. 15 to Jan. 23, overnight car break-ins

Jan. 15
There was one report of unemployment identity fraud.
7:36 a.m.: Officers responded to Star Market parking lot for report of a stolen item. They spoke to a Belmont man who said he parked his 2004 pick-up truck in the Star Market parking lot and when he returned, he noticed something hanging from the bottom and realized someone removed the catalytic converter to his truck. Officers asked how long his truck was in the spot and he said he maintains the lot during snow storms and leaves the truck on the property per an agreement with Star Market. The truck was parked there since the last storm one month ago. The last time he checked it was the night before and it was intact. The value of the catalytic converter is $2,000. ....

Jan. 4
10:11 a.m.: Collision in area of Belmont Street and Trapelo Road between a 2015 Nissan operated by a Belmont woman and a 2014 Ford operated by a Belmont woman. The operator of the Ford said she did not see the red light. Airbags deployed in both vehicles which were towed. The operator of the Ford received a citation for failure to stop at a red light. ....
