The Queensland Premier revealed her plea to federal counterparts to help solve the chronic issue of hospital bed shortages and ambulance ramping after reports a man waited 26 hours in an emergency department for treatment.
Neville Clayton died less than a week after he endured several heart attacks amid a harrowing wait at Ipswich Hospital that the opposition described as âabsolutely tragicâ.
The manâs son, former nurse Anthony Clayton, shared his fatherâs story in the hope of forcing change to a health sector plagued by an undersupply of hospital beds and common anecdotes of paramedics waiting for hours to admit patients to emergency departments. ....

A grieving family is demanding answers after their beloved father and husband died in hospital following a 26 hour wait in emergency where he suffered several heart attacks.
Neville Clayton, 67, died in Ipswich Hospital, west of Brisbane, in March after a delay in treatment that his son and registered nurse Anthony, described as disgusting.
As a nurse, I m not confident in the health system in Queensland it s failing people left, right and centre, he told news.com.au.
The system is failing. They don t provide the care that is needed.

A former nurse has vowed to “fight to the bitter end” to force change to Queensland’s beleaguered health system after his father died following a 26-hour wait in an emergency department.
Neville Clayton died less than a week after he endured several heart attacks amid a harrowing wait at Ipswich Hospital as the state’s bed shortage reaches “crisis” point.
His son, Anthony, who worked as a nurse on the Gold Coast for nearly 30 years, said he was “disgusted” in the state’s health system.
In March, paramedics arrived at the family’s Ipswich home 20 minutes after being called and said Neville would need to be transported more than hour away to the Toowoomba Hospital because the local facility was at capacity. ....
