Louisville City Council accepts bid to replace water meters The Repository KEY ACTION: Accepted a bid to replace water meters. DISCUSSION: Neptune Equipment Co. of Cincinnati will install new water meters on all property using city water for $951,957. Neptune was the lowest of three bids and was lower than the expected $1.5 million construction costs estimated by CT Consultants of Akron.  The fixed-base advance meter infrastructure system, manufactured by AMI, will enable the city to move from the current meter reading, staggered between the north and south sides of the city in alternate months, to a monthly system citywide. Project cost is expected to be covered from city funds previously allocated for such capital improvement projects in the water system. Council acted as the Board of Control on the approval. The project will reduce city expenditures for personnel to read the meters and produce the billing.
