Police intercepts lorry load of 'palliatives mattresses' in Bayelsa, arrest two suspects

Operatives of the Bayelsa Police Command has intercepted a truckload of mattresses suspected to be stolen “Covid-19 palliatives”, in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The suspects identified as Shehu Yola, 42 years and Sunday Emmanuel, aged 28, were arrested as they have were arrested in the state capital with the “stolen palliatives” as they were about exiting the state capital.
According to police source, the arrests of the suspects followed a tip off, which prompted peratives of Bayelsa State Police Command to swing into action.
Confirming the arrests of the suspects, a statement by state Police Spokesman Asinim SP Butswat, stated: “Following a tip off, Operatives of Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested one Shehu Yola ‘m’ 42 years and one Sunday Emmanuel ‘m’ 28 years, at Okaka, Yenagoa.  ....

Police impound truck loaded with mattresses suspected to be COVID-19 palliative in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Command of the Nigeria Police has arrested two men, Shehu Yola ‘m’ 42 years and Sunday Emmanuel ‘m’ 28 years, for allegedly stealing mattresses suspected to be COVID-19 palliative in Yenagoa.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Asinim Butswat, the suspects were arrested on the 18th February 2021, at about 10 pm.
Parts of the statement read “Following a tip-off, Operatives of Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested one Shehu Yola ‘m’ 42 years and one Sunday Emmanuel ‘m’ 28 years, at Okaka, Yenagoa.
“The suspects were arrested on 18 February 2021, at about 2100hours, with a truckload of mattresses suspected to be stolen property. ....

Diri, monarchs, youths demand better federal presence in Bayelsa

Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, on Monday, joined traditional rulers, youths and other key stakeholders to demand a better presence of Federal Government in order to fast track overall development of the state.
The stakeholders made the call during a special town hall meeting organised by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in conjunction with the state government at the Chief Harold Dappa Biriye Conference Centre in Yenagoa.
They called on the Federal Government to revisit the abandoned federal secretariat and housing projects among other federal infrastructure lacking in the state.
In their presentation, chairman of the Central Zone, Ijaw Youth Council, Clever Inodu, and the council’s spokesman, Ebilade Ekerefe, stressed that constructive engagement of the youths was vital to sustaining the peace and security in the Niger Delta. ....
