Markethybrid carnival. There were carnival rides and the like, but there were also people there selling objects. One of the objects was similar to this. I purchased it and i broke it. Again, it was not a philosophical thing, i just did not like the object. I do not remember the second object, or the third or the fourth. But i started collecting. And basically, have been collecting for several decades. I didnt start out with the anticipation of creating a museum. I was what most people would call an obsessive collector, and the idea of it becoming not just a collection as teaching tools, but actually a museum happened much later. So, not everybody where you grew up was collecting these items. Theres got to be more. What was it that made you keep doing it . David you know, i dont know. I have been thinking about that a lot. Im pleased that you have taken this picture which was taken a year or two after i came back from school in england, and had come out in the traditional way in new york. Fashions seem so funny today with the high neck and the gold beads around my neck and above all the hair. I had hair below my waist, so it was hard to get it scrolled up on top of my head, but it makes you look quite different. All i can say about the fashions today is that at least weve progressed and are more comfortable. In the next picture with your father you seem to have a very nice relationship with him. He meant a great deal to you, didnt he . My father meant a tremendous amount. I adored him all the days of my childhood. Did for many years. Did he have a particular nickname he called you . CSPAN3 American Artifacts Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibit July 12, 2024

This was an attempt by the smithsonian and to do an honest and balanced exhibit about the decision to drop the bomb and the consequences of the bombing. This was the 50th anniversary in 1995. Decided with one of my students, whose mother and grandmother survived the atomic bombing, and whose grandfather died in , we decidedombing to do Something Special to commemorate the 50th anniversary. We would teach two classes on campus and bring students to kyoto. The museums in hiroshima and would bring if we some of the artifacts to American University and do an exhibit on the 50th anniversary. That was the first time the hiroshimanagasaki a ball museum did an exhibit outside of japan. It was the 20th anniversary of our exhibit and the 70th anniversary of the original bombing, so we decided to do it again. We combined artifacts from nagasaki with six of these fabulous panels. ....

The United States Public Health service as it exists today is a product of experience extending over a period of nearly 150 years. It was originally created as a Marine Hospital service for the purpose of providing medical care to american seamen. It was established by an act of congress signed by the second president of the United States, john adams, on july 16, 1798. This service was originally supported by a tax on american merchant seamen. This was later abolished. It was collected by the collector of the customs of the treasury department.
