January 13, 2021 CHEER offers new yearly memberships The annual CHEER membership year now runs Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, starting with 2021. CHEER is a nonprofit agency that serves the 50-plus population in Sussex County through an array of programs and services including nutrition, transportation, home health assistance, and social and recreational activities. Its mission is to keep seniors in their homes enjoying healthy and active lifestyles. The CHEER membership fee of $30 per year gives members access to all seven CHEER congregate meal activity centers in Sussex County plus eligibility for reduced-priced congregate meals and upcoming trips. They also can participate in agency-sponsored classes and virtual activities. Bus service is available to transport members to and from the centers. December 16, 2020 Lewes students participate in Emerson stage productions Emerson College announced two Lewes residents participated in its virtual stage productions this fall. Lewes resident Caitlin Hudecheck was credited as stage manager for Jaclyn Backhaus’ “Men On Boats.” This production tells the story of the 1869 expedition of a one-armed captain and a thrill-seeking crew as they find adventures along the course of the Colorado River. Hudecheck is pursuing a degree in stage and production management. Jolisa Osborn-Polakoff of Lewes was credited as a costume designer for “The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui.” This play uses parody to create a dark allegory that warns of the persistence of fascism.
