Pet adoptions from the Nebraska Humane Society and visits to the facility are on hold for at least three to five days as the staff investigates the possibility of highly contagious bacterial infection among its animals.
Legally, The Nebraska Humane Society said officers can break your car's window to save your pet if their life is at risk. "We have had to break out windows when we can't locate an owner," said Ronald Schlabs, director of field operations.
